The Museum of Asian Art is located inside the Volunteer Park. The museum artifacts have an emphasis for Chinese and Japanese art. Exhibits of interests are the Chinese terracotta, funerary art pieces and Chinese snuff boxes. Three rooms are dedicated to Chinese ceramics and one room for Japanese ceramics. Other parts of Asia like Korea, Southeast Asia and South Asia are also represented. Stone sculptures from India are also exhibited there.
The museum has a quaint small café called the Taste Café serving Asian wraps and jasmine tea. The SAM shop located by the main door is small but has a charming variety of Asian merchandise and books.
